Festivals in Hertfordshire 2019
We’re teetering on the edge of festival season and with so many fantastic events lined up for Hertfordshire in 2019, it’s the perfect time to start planning your festival calendar. Whether you’re looking for the soundtrack to your summer at one Hertfordshire’s many music festivals, or a sprinkling of culture at an arts festival, it’s time to start booking, planning and hunting down those wellies!
15th -16th June
Jools Holland, James Morrison and the glorious surroundings of Down Hall, we can't wait for this sensational event at Down Hall this summer. With live music and a peaceful setting, we can guarantee this one's set to be the perfect start to those long summer days.
13th – 23rd June, Hertfordshire
For a more tranquil pace this festival season, the Hertfordshire Festival of Music will once again be bringing a vibrant collection of classical musicians to almost every town in the county. World-class performers, including a chamber ensemble formed by Steven Isserlis, orchestras and thriving choirs will all be part of a programme usually reserved for the London theatres.
21st – 30th June
This summer discover the Roman heritage of St Albans during a 10-day festival with family-friendly events. Celebrate the city’s past with all the amazing things St Albans has to offer today. Local organisations are getting involved to make it a real city-wide event, such as the Roman Amphitheatre and OVO, The Pudding Stop, St Albans City Guides and the St Albans Film Festival.
Grab your legwarmers and perm your hair because this retro 80s festival is set to take you back in Tring! With performances from Hot Chocolate, Bananarama and Thompson Twins' Tom Bailey on the cards, it's no surprise this thrilling throwback is a yearly favourite, so get your tickets fast!
A leafy park, folk music and a summer day, now doesn’t that sound like bliss? Folk by the Oak promises one memorable day of award-winning musicians and up and coming talent. Wander the parkland at Hatfield House and soak up the atmosphere from the intimate Acorn Stage and the lively Main Stage, while listening to a line-up including Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls, the Hydra and Heist to name just a few.
20th - 21st July
Foodies, rejoice! The Great British Food Festival is returning to Knebworth for 2019. The 28 acre formal gardens will host a taste of some of the UK’s finest food, with 70 stalls of artisanal produce, chef demonstrations and cookery workshops all being cooked up for this year’s festival. Bring along the family and your four-legged friends to explore the gardens, and whatever you do, don’t forget to bring your appetite!
25th - 28th July
With Rag 'N' Bone Man, Wolf Alice, Kate Nash, this boutique festival in the countryside offers big names and the very best in emerging talent for 2019. Complete with pool, hot tub and a touch of luxury with accommodation ranging from tipis to deluxe suites, it’s safe to say this is not your average music festival, so leave the tent pegs at home.
26th - 28th July
This summer the grounds of Hatfield House will be transformed into a celebration of countryside traditions. Bring along the family, enjoy sensational food and drink, and take in a whole host of displays and shows, including horse and hounds, show gardens, falconry and fishing.
23rd - 25th August
While the line-up is still a closely guarded secret, we can tell you that Meraki Festival will feature three stages of top live music from rock and pop, to folk and soul. Get your tickets fast, because this all-inclusive event takes the festival experience to the next level, with activities including laser tag, roller disco, family-friendly fun and a little R&R in the form of a spa – pure bliss!
24th - 26th August
Hot heads, this is the festival for you. 60 stalls of chilli traders, sensationally spiced food and cocktails, chilli plants and plenty of entertainment is all set for this year’s festival, perfect for the chilli aficionados. For the real spice-seekers, it’s time to test your mettle in the infamous chilli eating competition, but get in there quick, because only a select few will have the honour of burning their taste buds.
30th August - 1st September
Britpop fans, do not miss out on tickets to this! Knebworth Park, the background for so many iconic events in British music, will once again host some of the very best in British rock and dance. Celebrate an epic era with headline acts Basment Jaxx and James and dance your way through the nineties and noughties with artists including the Bluetones, Babybird and Dodgy.
