Art in the Nave 8th Annual Arts Festival - Hemel Hempstead

Art in the Nave Returns to Hemel Hempstead This August Bank Holiday Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire – Art in the Nave, Hemel Hempstead’s much-loved annual visual arts festival, returns to St Mary’s Church in the Old Town from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st August 2026. Now in its eighth year, this three-day event continues to grow as a highlight of the Hertfordshire arts calendar, attracting artists and visitors from across the region. Open daily from 11.00am to 5.00pm, the festival transforms the historic 12th-century church into a vibrant gallery space. Visitors can browse and purchase a wide range of original artwork, including paintings, textiles, ceramics, glass, handmade jewellery, and silverware, all created by talented local artists. “Art in the Nave is a genuine celebration of creativity and community,” said curator Brian Doran. “It brings together artists, residents, and visitors in one of Hemel’s most beautiful and historic settings, creating a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere for everyone.” Artists across Hertfordshire and neighbouring counties will exhibit their work in the the festival offers a valuable opportunity to showcase and sell directly to an engaged audience, with many exhibitors returning year after year. The event is designed to appeal to all, from serious collectors to families looking for an enjoyable Bank Holiday outing. Entry is by suggested donation of £2 for adults, with free admission for under 16s. Light refreshments will be available throughout the weekend. Art in the Nave also supports local and international charitable causes. This year’s beneficiaries are: ● Liberty Tea Rooms, Hemel Hempstead ● UK Langa Township Pre-School Trust (supporting education in South Africa) ● Friends of St Mary’s (supporting the preservation of the historic church) Artists, volunteers, and potential sponsors are warmly invited to get involved.
