It’s the most wonderful time of the year and 2022's Christmassy events will soon be here. From sparkling trees, glistening in the streets to festive food markets with delightful treats. It’s time to get your woolly hats out and decorate your Christmas dinners with the all-important sprout. Prepare yourselves, kids, as the towns are embellished in red soon to be twinkling with lights to help Santa navigate his sled.

Yes, Christmas light switch ons will soon land in Hertfordshire and we have got the rundown of all the best events to get you into the Christmas spirit. So grab a warm hot chocolate and journey with us as we uncover the best festivities in town…

St Albans Christmas Cracker - Sunday 20th November

You are cordially invited to attend the most anticipated party of the year. St Albans City Centre will be dressed in its festive best with music, street food, a fairground, street performers and of course the all-important Christmas light switch-on. As the night draws in, the streets will be illuminated in a magical Christmas glow, so be sure not to miss this show.

Hatfield Lights Up - Saturday 26th November

Enter a winter wonderland in Hatfield and join in the celebration on November 26th and enjoy live entertainment, food stalls and music. Better still, Santa will have a grotto with his elves so you can visit with your little ones, and whilst you’re waiting for the big switch on at 6pm, you can always indulge in some warming mulled wine.

Stevenage Switches On - Thursday 24th November

Have you heard? The Stevenage Christmas light switch-on takes places this November and it is shaping up to be the best Christmassy night yet, filled with merry music and yuletide entertainment. From 3pm to 7pm, expect dazzling dancing, scrumptious food, Santa sightings and big old Christmas lights being turned on - by none other than Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist Immi Davies, Luke Norris and Boro Bear of Stevenage FC. Follow it up by heading to the Old Town event on the Saturday 26th with another light switch on between 5:30 and 6:30pm!

Hertford Christmas Gala - Friday 25th November

The Christmas Gala to crown all Christmas Galas has arrived! Hertford’s annual festive extravaganza returns for another year and will sport an impressive fairground, live performance, plenty of market stalls, and much more! And, let’s not forget the Christmastide light turn on at 6pm! Keeping the Christmas spirit going, next door at Hertford Castle is their Christmas Market, which will be open place from the Friday evening right through the whole weekend.

Tring Christmas Festival - Saturday 26th November

Dig out your Reindeer jumpers and blast out Michael Bublé on the radio because Christmas is just around the corner in Tring. As the day loses light, Welwyn Garden City will become illuminated in Christmas colour on the 19th November as the town hosts its lights switch on from 12pm to 6pm. Promised are plenty of festive treats from street entertainment to arts and crafts and a packed fun fair!
