For this year’s Mother’s Day (that’s Sunday 15th March, in case you needed the reminder!), we’re going above and beyond to show some love to the mothers in our lives. Whether it be mum, a neighbour, your best friend, or anyone in between, this is the day to give a round of applause to those amazing women out there and all of the hard work they do on the daily. Treat her to an afternoon tea to make her feel like the queen that she is, enjoy a leisurely walk for those deep and de-stressing chats, or go all out and book an overnight stay to really show her just how special she is. Whatever you choose, you can find it right on your doorstep here in Hertfordshire – no need to travel far, as the county’s local businesses and experiences have got exactly what you need and more for this year’s Mother’s Day.

All mums are beautiful

The Grove have teamed up with iconic beauty brand Charlotte Tilbury to offer an exclusive selection of experiences and retail therapy that could be the perfect gift this year. Let's start with the Charlotte Tilbury Afternoon Tea. Enjoy an exquisite selection of sandwiches scones and beauty inspired cakes, plus a special skincare gift to take home. Not that she needs it of course, but perhaps a Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Masterclass is just the thing to treat mum to. Helping her to feel as amazing as she looks... Gorgeous!

Time to get crafty

A visit to Grandey's Place should definitely be on the cards this Mother's Day. The centre is dedicated to the conservation of British Heritage Crafts. There are so many amazing gift ideas the only problem will be knowing which on to go for. It's not quite summer yet so perhaps a piece of luxury knitwear from designer Genevieve Sweeney. Or for a real statement piece why not plump for something from milliner Rose Collins... Hats Off to that!

Rest and relax!

Fancy treating Mum to some of the best relaxation that Hertfordshire has to offer? At Hanbury Manor, a fantastic range of experiences are a sure-fire way of showing your love and appreciation. For all that Mum does, we can all agree that she deserves the best - so, what will it be? A Champagne Afternoon Tea to toast all her hard work, a Spa Day to feel truly pampered, maybe even a day out on the green to ace her game...whatever it may be, you can find it right here in our county's beautiful countryside, at one of our favourite rural retreats!

Walk and talk

Nothing beats those heart-to-hearts that you get when you go for a walk. The simple act of putting one foot in front of the other, soaking up the surroundings, and breathing in fresh air really puts the mind at ease and makes for the perfect afternoon of walking and talking. Lucky for us, there are so many fantastic walks in Hertfordshire for us to choose from. As the season starts to turn, this is the perfect time to get out there for your chance to spot the beautiful bluebells of Ashridge Estate, the stunning snowdrops at Benington Lordship Gardens, or the dazzling daffodils of Cassiobury Park. Wherever you may be in the county, you’re sure to find a breath-taking walk nearby for you to enjoy this Mother’s Day.

Roaring good times

Mother's Day marks the reopening of Knebworth House for 2026. Celebrate with a special brunch at Knebworth Barns, then explore Dinosaurs and Daffodils across the magnificent gardens and Dinosaur Trail in the grounds. Set in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, this is one afternoon that you’ll be sure to remember. Be sure to book in soon and give mum the gift of food and spring flowers this year. Blooming marvellous

Family on the farm

There is so much on offer at Tewinbury Farm this Mother's day, you really are spoilt for choice in ways to spoil your mum. It could be a seasonal Mother's Day lunch served family style with scrumptious local produce from across the farm. Or how about afternoon tea in the Tythe Barn, nothing beats the smell of fresh-baked scones, delicious finger sandwiches and tempting sweet treats. Want to raise a glass and toast everything Mum? Head to the stable for a glass of something fizzy or a sunset cocktail... Cheers!

Food for the soul

Whether you fancy a Chalkstream trout rillette with pickled cucumber or wild mushroom gnocchi with sun dried tomatoes and mushroom cream (yes, our mouths are watering just writing this), you’ve got to try out Lussmanns Sustainable Kitchen this Mother’s Day. You and mum can enjoy an afternoon of some of the best Mediterranean-style cooking you’ve ever tried, right here in Herts. With restaurants in St Albans, Hertford, Harpenden, Hitchin, and Berkhamsted, you’re set for food wherever you may be in the county. Voted the Best Sustainable Restaurant Group, amongst many other things, you can dine in peace when you dine with Lussmanns... Forks at the ready

Discoveries on your doorstep

And for even more inspo for days out with the little ones and mum this year, why not take a trip to the Natural History Museum in Tring? No need to travel far and wide to entertain the whole family, as this Dacorum museum brings you all the fun for a fantastic day out. Discover the history of the museum, take in the wide range of animals, and join in on one of their many events. Plus, with Tring Park right next door, we're keeping our fingers crossed for a sunny March!
