It might be summer but if you know the UK weather like we do then you would know that the sun is not always shining but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying what Hertfordshire has to offer!

So… here is a round up of our recommended places to visit and see to put a smile on your face even if the weather might look miserable.

Hatfield House, Park and Gardens

Its no secret that Hatfield Park is a beautiful place to visit from the outstanding house to the gorgeous blooming gardens filled with an array of colourful flowers. Yes the weather might not be great but that doesn’t stop the garden from blossoming. Grab yourself some lunch and boost your energy before travelling back in time and reliving history when discovering the house. Make sure to visit the Marble Hall with its wonderful extravagant oak carvings and The King James Drawing Room with a life-size statue of James I.

Knebworth House

Knebworth House is filled with things to do for everyone whether you’re looking for something to do with friends or something to do with the children even on a rainy day. Explore the romantic exterior of the house and keep an eye out the windows at the beautiful turrets, domes and gargoyles silhouetted against the sky. See if you can spot the different styles in each room, placed by every generation of the Lytton family.

If the weather is bearable take the children to the dinosaur trail where they can run around or to the adventure playground! Just because it’s raining, don’t let that stop you from enjoying the outside so make sure to take a look at the gardens whether it's out in the rain or through the windows of the house as you do not want to miss the beautiful array of colours.

The Snow Centre

The weather outside might not be the best but that’s ok because when skiing or snowboarding you don’t need the perfect weather… especially when it's inside! Head over to The Snow Centre located at Hemel Hempstead with family and friends and jump on the slopes for a fun day out. This is one of the UKs largest indoor lesson slope but don’t let that put you off, whether you are a beginner or a pro the centre has got you covered and has everything that you could possibly need!

Natural History Museum Tring

Everybody loves a museum so why not visit Tring’s Natural History Museum on a rainy day? Travel back in history and discover the private collection of Lionel Walter Rothschild or discover facts about dinosaurs or mammoths. Whether this is the first time you have visited or the 50th there is always something new happening with their amazing exhibitions and events that take place making sure you are always entertained.

Cast Iron Grill

Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club

Shelter from the rain this year in the best way possible...with a wonderful dining experience! Book yourself in for a delicious meal, tantalising your tastebuds at the Cast Iron Grill with the added bonus of a complimentary bottle of house wine when you dine between half five and half six. For something that little bit extra special, why not enjoy an afternoon tea, soaking in the luxury of the food, drink, and spectacular views (plus, if you book in Monday-Thursday between 2-4pm, you can enjoy a complimentary bottle of prosecco!). No sunshine? No problem...

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London

By the end of this visit I’m sure you could find a magic trick to bring the sunshine back out! Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is always on everyone's list but why not discover the filmmaking magic during the rain? Come and walk in the footsteps of Harry Potter, walk down Diagon Alley, be top of the class like Hermione Granger and learn extraordinary spells! You will not be bored wandering around the studios…

Spa Retreats

Changing your plans because of the weather could be stressful so why not relax and go to a spa retreat? Well, Hertfordshire is filled with beautiful spa retreats perfect to get you relaxed and happy no matter the weather. One place doing exactly that is Hanbury Manor where, before 31st August, you can benefit from their 6 Weeks of Wellness, enjoying their newly-refurbished fitness centre and relaxing spa facilities, and becoming the best version of you. Some say listening to the raindrops are relaxing so book in your spa retreat and treat yourself to a glass of wine with your friends.
