A museum that rescues historic buildings and rebuilds them in a traditional Chilterns landscape. Just a 7-minute drive from junction 17 of the M25, the Museum is a rural haven within easy reach of London and the home counties.
The Museum’s collection focuses on the past houses and workplaces of ordinary people and is home to 37 reconstructed historic buildings including a blacksmith forge, 1940s post-war prefab, World War 1 Nissen hut, tin chapel and Iron Age roundhouse.
Around the site, you will find traditional gardens, a ‘Dig for Victory’ allotment and heritage farm with livestock - so there is plenty of places to discover and explore.
COAM has an extensive events programme including re-enactments, craft demonstrations and living history. The site is a popular filming venue and has been used in the filming of Call the Midwife, Horrible Histories, Downton Abbey, Mary Queen of Scots, Grantchester, Taskmaster and more
