This is a wonderful opportunity to listen to Imtiaz Dharker performing live in Hertfordshire. One of Britain's leading poets, she has been awarded the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry. Her work has appeared on BBC radio and TV, the London Underground and Mumbai buses, and she has been featured on Desert Island Discs. Author of seven published collections, she is also a visual artist and filmmaker. Doors open at 7.45pm. The event begins at 8pm with an open mic session, followed by a reading by Imtiaz Dharker. 'Imtiaz Dharker's poetry shines a light in the dark… You cannot hear her perform without being somehow transformed by the experience. Witty, wise, profound and moving, her work crosses continents. Carol Ann Duffy once said that if there was to be a world laureate, it would be Dharker. Agreed.' Jackie Kay, The Guardian. This event is part funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with support from Ware Town Council and EHDC.
£6. Free to under-19s.
