Beautiful Grief

24th August 2025

Grief needs more than words, it needs a container, a sacred place to be held. This is what Beautiful Grief will offer. Guided by Nicola, a life mentor, writer and grief advocate, you will honour the nature of our grief, tend to it and allow it in a way that we often don’t experience in our society. In our culture grief is hidden in the shadows, it’s deeply suppressed. Working with grief in this way seeks to bring you into a different relationship with grief and all of its ways. Grief takes different forms, it can be bereavement, you may be caring for someone you love, it may be the sorrows of the world we’re enduring right now. All grief is welcome here.

During this time together you will use practices to honour our grief. You will explore grief through writing, ritual and the body. You will support the movement of grief and you may just experience your grief in a different way. When we truly allow our grief, it can open us to the beauty - grief and beauty side by side. We will all experience grief in our lifetime - grief is part of life, and to live is to grieve. Please bring with you writing materials and a blanket and/or shawl. And anything else for your comfort.

This can be a tender space to step into, I will hold and support you along the way. £5 per session – all proceeds go to our partner charity, Cruse Bereavement Support. Disclaimer: This workshop is facilitated by a holistic practitioner, not licensed therapists or mental health professionals. While it is designed to offer a supportive and expressive space, it is not a substitute for professional therapy or clinical support. Please be aware that it might touch on sensitive or emotional experiences and could be triggering for some participants. We encourage you to engage at your own pace and take care of your wellbeing throughout adn after. Support resources will be available, and you're welcome to step away at any time. This workshop is part of the exhibition "Letters to Forever" created by Natalia Millman. Letters to Forever — NATALIA MILLMAN 6-28 August St Peter's Church, St Albans, Hertfordshire "Letters to Forever" is proudly supported by Arts Council England and funded by #NationalLottery players as part of its National Portfolio, bringing creativity and culture to Hertfordshire.
