Ovaltine Reminiscence Event for former employees

26th October 2024

Did you work for Ovaltine in Kings Langley? Would you like to share your memories of working at the factory? Dacorum Heritage is holding a reminiscence event in Kings Langley on Saturday 26 October, 2.30-4.30pm. Come and see some of the Ovaltine objects we care for at our museum store - you might remember them! Talk to our volunteers about what it was like to work in the factory and enjoy a cup of Ovaltine while you are here! We would also love to record your memories in film and audio. Video producers Chocolate Films and volunteers will be joining us to capture stories of Ovaltine on the day. Please note that this event is only open to ex-Ovaltine employees. Why are we doing this? When Ovaltine closed in 2002, its archive was rescued by the Kings Langley History Society, and then entrusted into the care of Dacorum Heritage. For almost 20 years, we have looked after over 10,000 objects from the factory - from uniforms and an Ovaltine maid costume, to packaging, advertising art-work, films and LPS (including the Ovaltineys), as well as office documents and newsletters. We would like to deepen understanding of this collection by gathering the memories of former Ovaltine workers to find out what it was really like to work in the factory. We want to capture the diversity of voices and memories from Ovaltine before those stories of factory life are lost for good. You might have worked at Ovaltine for a year, for twenty years, in the office or on the factory floor - all contributions will help us to build a picture of Ovaltine. How to Register This FREE event is for former workers only. Do let us know if you can attend in advance by registering below. If you would like to take part in a professionally filmed interview, please send a separate email to LaurenWilson@dacorumheritage.org.uk. This is a wonderful way to contribute to the project and to have your memories recorded and preserved in film! After you sign up, you will receive an email from Dacorum Heritage, asking your Ovaltine job title and years of employment. Such details will help us to plan the event. .
