Watford Comedy Night at the Pump House

8th June 2024

Comedy Hotspot returns to Watford Pump House with another cracker of a line up, packed to the brim with comedic excellence. 4 very different styles, but all of them hilarious. Add to that a wonderful venue and an award winning Comedy Promoter to make sure the evening runs like a dream on the night, and you have all the ingredients for a brilliant comedy night. Here is a little insight into the 4 comedians coming to be with us in June. CERYS NELMES - MC Cerys Nelmes is one of the best MC’s to grace a comedy stage, rubber stamped by recently winning the award of UK’s Best MC at the Comedians Comedian Awards. She regularly gigs at all of the UK’s best comedy clubs, has recently spent 3 months gigging in Australia and, at the time of writing, is in Austria gigging at the Altitude Comedy Festival. Cerys is the voice of TV ads such as the National Lottery with Dermot O Leary and is a regular extra in the BBC TV Series Casualty. Trust me when I say Cerys will live long in the memory. ALASDAIR BECKETT-KING Alasdair is a legendary comedian, in that there is little historical evidence that he exists. ......... But he does exist. The multi-award-winning stand-up comedian has performed on the BBC's Mock the Week, Comedy Central Live, Radio 4's The News Quiz and at Glastonbury. Following several viral videos and a sell out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Alasdair embarked upon his first UK tour in 2023. In the same year, Walker Books published ABK's Montgomery Bonbon series of children's mystery novels. Alasdair is also the co-host of the Loremen Podcast, offering listeners irreverent updates on local folklore. People ask him for directions all the time. He looks like the kind of guy who knows shortcuts. STEVE BEST Steve Best has been a stand-up comedian for well over 20 years. There, he's outed himself at last. Steve has performed all over the world including South Africa, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bosnia, South Africa, Holland, Denmark, The Falkland Islands, and Southend-on-Sea. He plans to go further afield. Steve has been on huge nationwide tours with Frank Skinner, Craig Charles and Omid Djalili. He has been on TV (a few times). "Rip-roaringly funny. See him!" - The Guardian ”Inspired collection of visual japes” – Time Out CHRISTIAN REILLY At the age of 15, Christian Reilly joined a band to get laid. The Salvation Army had different ideas... Formerly an integral part of the Perrier award-winning show "Otis Lee Crenshaw and the Black Liars", with comic/songster Rich Hall, Christian's career has taken him around the world three times. On his way he received accolades at international festivals and numerous network TV credits in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Britain. Now a solo stand-up performer and playing all the major comedy venues in his own right, Christian uses his dynamic guitar and vocal skills to target histrionic rock bands, musical theatre and morose indie musicians. He recently wrote and performed for "That Was Then This Is Now" (BBC Radio 2) as musical counterpart to Richard Herring and Emma Kennedy, as well as giving his improvisation skills an outing on Radio 2's "Jammin". Christian's comic songs, improvisations, sharp wit and youthful energy have delighted audiences wherever he performs. Christian is one of the finest musical acts on the British Comedy scene today and he will be perfect to bring the night to a close. Minimum age to attend is 18.
