We love summer. The bright mornings, big days out, lazy afternoons, and (most importantly) the slow evenings that turn into long nights of laughter, story sharing and memory-making. Here in Herts, people love to celebrate the long days of the season as much as possible, whether that be with outdoor cinemas or watching the sun set with a sloth. Check out our list of what to do these summer evenings.

Paradise Wildlife Park

24th June – 23rd July (18:30 – 21:30)

For a roar-some evening this summer, come along to Herts’ number one zoo and wind down after a busy day alongside all the park’s animals. Watch the sunset and the animals settle down for the night, all while enjoying some Pimms and tasty food. Aside from seeing a lion at rest, you can also see wildlife stilt walkers, listen to acoustic music, and get your face painted! Bring the family and camera along for an unforgettable night of natural beauty and lively spirit.

Ghost Tour & Bat Walk

18th August

Who said spooky season had to be in autumn? Not Knebworth House, that’s for sure. This summer, the 15th century country house will host a night of phantom phenomena and bat bonanzas in their Ghost Tour & Bat Walk. Tour the house at night and hear all about unexplainable paranormal events that have taken place within the halls of Knebworth. Then hear from bat experts from the Herts and Middlesex Bat Group, who will tell you all about these fascinating creatures. This is one nocturnal night that you won’t want to miss out on – the only thing you won’t be frightened by are the light refreshments!

Yoga & Pilates in Bushey Rose Garden

Where better to relax the mind and body than amongst nature? Join the We Move, She Moves programme this summer as they bring you weekly evening classes of either yoga or pilates in Bushey Rose Garden. Breathe in and breathe out, unwind, and restore as you spend a rejuvenating evening with fellow yogis. Improve flexibility, release stress, and reconnect with yourself as you vinyasa flow in the flowers. All you’ll need is some comfortable clothing and an open mind at the classes – everything else you can find within you!

Every last Thursday of the month until September

Thursdays just got a bit better! Come along on the last Thursday of every month to Salisbury Square, where you’ll find seven of the region’s best food stalls – from Caribbean jerk to Mediterranean paella, your taste buds will have the time of their life!
