Watford Symphony Orchestra Family Concert

6th July 2025
We present a Family Concert designed to appeal to young and old alike ! It is designed to showcase the orchestra's instrumental 'families', and featuring some of those instantly recognisable melodies from the world of stage and cinema. And so our programme will include music from ' Star Wars' and 'Wicked', as well as a quite new piece of musical story telling by composer Bernard Hughes 'The Knight who took all Day'. In this we welcome as our narrator, Gerry O'Bierne, who will be painting ( in words), the scene as it unfolds. We will also feature the orchestra's strings and wind instruments in two pieces written for each of those combinations. The whole concert will only last an hour, and so for younger visitors, the experience will be for the enjoyment of orchestral music, presented in a varied and interesting manner. Informality will be a keynote of the event, and there will be the opportunity for our younger listeners ( and the older ones !) to meet some of our instrumentalists in the Foyer area before and after the concert. Ticket prices are designed to be as family friendly as possible and are Adults: £15 and accompanying Children £3.
