One May Bank Holiday weekend down and another one on the way – bring on the sunshine!

Whether you’re feeling excited or daunted at the prospect of keeping little ones entertained this half term, we’ve got a full round up of exciting activity going on all across Hertfordshire over the Bank Holiday and beyond, so all you need to do is keep your fingers crossed for blue skies.

Remember, if you’re out and about in Hertfordshire, share your adventures with us on Twitter and Instagram!

In the footsteps of dinosaurs

Knebworth House has gone positively prehistoric in the Wilderness Garden! Take little ones on an adventure along woodland paths past 70 life-sized dinosaurs grazing in the shrubbery for the ultimate Jurassic day out. Or grab your compass for a journey through the undergrowth at Hertford Theatre to take a peak at the territories of the infamous T-Rex, Triceratops, Segnosaurus and more!

Animal adventures

Paradise Wildlife is the ultimate wild day out this holiday with 800 exotic animals, Safari Adventure Golf and three playgrounds to explore. If the sun has its hat on, don’t miss the Paradise Lagoon paddling pool for the chance to soak up those rays and cool off with a splash and an ice cream. Pounce on Paradise

Join the big band

Pack a picnic, round up the family and hope for some sunshine this Bank Holiday Sunday as the Watford Big Bandstand is back with live music in the heart of Cassiobury Park! The Peace Hospice Fundraiser will open the season on 27th May, followed by a sensational acoustic performance from Sienna Melella on 3rd June. Music in the park

Rural celebrations

Bank Holiday weekend will kick off with Hertfordshire’s biggest annual celebration! Bring the whole family along for day out in the countryside and meet the farmers, come nose to nose with farmyard animals, and enjoy a fantastic programme of entertainment, including horse and bike stunts and even a circus! Discover farming heritage

Woodland wanders

At Natural History Museum Tring it’s time to step back into nature and hone your detective skills with an expedition to spot and identify woodland species large and small with field guides, textures, sound and smells. Get hands on

Spring special

Willows Activity Farm is a hub of activity this half term! Watch live sheep shearing demonstrations as Shawn and friends get a brand new hair cut ready for summer, watch brand new shows in the Peter Rabbit Theatre and see the sheep take to the track in a speed race! Head to the farm
