It is a truth universally acknowledged that no Harry Potter fan, big and small, will ever grow tired of the wonder of The Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter, in fair Hertfordshire (just across the border from London).

The former home of the Harry Potter film series, now a multi award-winning visitor attraction, is so jam packed with movie memorabilia, behind the scenes stories, preposterous props, and jaw-dropping visual effects, that repeat visits are a must.

But just when you think the studio couldn’t dazzle Potter fans any more, the HP crew pulls another excellent exhibition out of the sorting hat for fans to enjoy.

Welcome to Warner Bros. Studio Tour - The Making of Harry Potter

New in the studios for 2018? The Making of Harry Potter – Behind the Seams.

This new experience allows visitors to discover the spellbinding secrets of the film series’ costume department, which created over 25,000 unique items of clothing for the wizarding world.

Visit Herts was delighted to get a sneak preview of the Behind the Seams story.

The experience is aimed at older children and adults, normally aged 12 and over, but we couldn’t deny this lil’Potter fan a chance to take a look too!

Sneak peak of Behind the Seams for our little Harry Potter fan!

The tour experts will unveil secrets behind some of the films’ most recognisable costumes, from initial sketches to the finished costume seen on screen. Discover how new clothes were made to look centuries old or battle-torn with the help of paint, mud and wire brushes, how magical snail trails were created on your favourite Herbology Professor’s robes and why Aunt Marge needed 38 costumes for just one scene.

The experts wield white gloves as they chat excitedly through the costume design process, and you truly understand how delicate, how detailed and how precious the iconic costumes on display really are - and how lucky you are to get to see them up close!

Delicate dresses and outrageous outfits from Harry Potter's world...

Presented in a workshop environment, the new experience is available to book in addition to your normal studio admission tickets from 24th July.

With your ticket in hand, you’ll be whisked away to a secret spot in the heart of the exhibition, where you’ll get to see exclusive costumes, never-before-seen at the Studio Tour including those belonging to beloved Herbology Professor Sprout, Triwizard champion Cedric Diggory and even the flowing robes of Lord Voldemort himself, distressed from the Battle of Hogwarts.

Another bonus? Potter fans will get the exclusive opportunity to wear an original Hogwarts robe, in the house colour of your choice, for a photo – yes, the actual robes that actually appeared on the actual screen. (Cue excited super fan squeal!)

Trying on an authentic Hufflepuff robe from the films - he'll grow into it...

One your Behind The Seams session ends, you’ll be able to rejoin the studio tour and continue exploring the studios and stunning locations such as Hogwarts Express, Diagon Alley, the Gryffindor Common Room, and the Forbidden Forest.

Fun fact – ever noticed the Voldermort’s robes change colour throughout the series? You’ll need to visit Behind The Seams to find out why…
